It’s time for the countdown until the Floyd Historical Society Museum closes its doors for regular Friday/Saturday hours. We’ll be open—for our last day of 2024—from Noon until 4:00 pm on Saturday, December 14.

Come soon if you haven’t visited, or come back if you have, for the Music of the Mountains exhibit. And don’t forget the Museum Store.* If you’re shopping for gifts, it’s a great source for unique and meaningful gifts, with a good cost/benefit profile; prices range from $3 (sale price of selected annual Society calendars) to $20 (for a Curtis Turner 100 Hat or visors; or a commemorative holiday tree ornament), to $50 (sale price for an illustrated history of the water-powered mills of Floyd County).

We look forward to our April 11 startup day for the Museum’s 2025 season! While you note that date on your calendar, scratch in the afternoon of the next day—Saturday, April 12, 2025—for the Museum’s Open House.

* Meanwhile: Did you hear that our store is one of the best places to get a gift for a history lover? And that it’s open online 24-7? Or that you can choose a local pickup at checkout to avoid all shipping and handling?
